I just got back from another long weekend in Maryland. I meant to take my laptop and write a post or two from there, but at the last minute I got into an argument with my laptop and decided to leave it here. Some things were said, voices/volumes were raised, threats against my data were made, and I may have used the term "glorified calculator." But we're good now. I brought back a new USB drive that included a text file containing "I'm sorry" in ASCII binary. My laptop also apologized by setting the screen saver to say "You're not completely worthless."

Best of friends again, right? [Affirmative, human.]

As for the trip itself, it was quite a bit of fun. At first, I thought the timing was poor because it was graduation weekend, and Maryland has approximately 40,000 colleges and universities so I thought the usual level of insane traffic would be exponentially worse. To my great surprise, I was actually able to drive five blocks in about three minutes. I'd be less surprised if I woke up with my head stapled to the carpet of Randy Quaid's RV. But the non-gridlocked roads provided for some nice visits with friends and family and food. It was a very enjoyable (and tasty) weekend!

So now I'm back and it's nice to be home. [Indeed, it is relatively pleasant that you are in close proximity again, human.]
